Oscillators are electronic circuits that produce periodic, oscillating signals. Crystal oscillators (XOs) use mechanical resonance of a vibrating crystal, usually made of quartz, to create signals with very precise frequency. Resonators are made from ceramic material instead of quartz and are much less precise than crystal oscillators.
